Mr. Jay Jamali will review the recently amended California Division of Occupational Safety and Health regulation, General Industry Safety Order §3380 Personal Protective Devices, that requires employers to perform a hazard assessment prior to equipment selection. These new requirements became effective in April 2011.
Mr. Jamali has a bachelors degree in occupational safety & health with a minor in industrial hygiene, and a masters degree in safety management. He is a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), and Certified Hazard Control Manager (CHCM) with over 25 years of EHS experience. Jay has been on the faculty of the University of California, Santa Cruz as a lecturer in safety and hazardous materials management in the university's extension certificate program for the past 20 years.
He has been involved in many California and Federal OSHA inspections and is a regular presenter at national and international safety conferences.
